The Big E!!

My last show of this year was down in Springfield Mass. at the Big E! I only brought down one ram and we got a Champion Oxford Ram from him and he was also one of the 4 pulled out for the Supreme Drive. Vermont was represented well from all the 4-Hers that went down this weekend. Last year we had no delegates and this year we had 8! It was a great year for showing!

Slowing down...

Things are slowing down for spring right now: all ewes have lambed, sheep have been shorn, tails docked. We had a grand total of 6 lambs: 4 rams and 2 ewes. We were hoping for some more ewes, but we're happy with what we've got. So what's next? Weaning and then eventually the shows. After that almost all of the lambs will be sold, but I am planning on keeping Nola, my Oxford ewe lamb, and Tuck, my natural colored ram lamb. We will be hoping to sell 2 of our yearling ewes and I will be buying an Oxford ram.
On the down side Liam has an infection in his tail... It never does really end.

Another Ram...

Lambing season is officially over at our farm, bringing us up to 10 sheep, six are lambs and 4 of those are rams. Azailia gave birth to a 14 pound black ram lamb and she can't be more than 120 pounds! I am so proud of her!

Updates

This is our last ewe to lamb. We are still waiting on her but expect her to lamb soon! :)

And, as you can see our other lambs are doing great so far. Tuck (top)  is very mischievous and, I think, a bit of an evil genius. He has 'visited' the new lambs several times since they were born by climbing through the slats of the pen. Curby and Nola are huge now at 5 weeks old and I have a pretty good feeling about them at the fair!

Twins!

We now are up to 5 lambs, 2 sets of twins and 1 single, with one more ewe to lamb. Malia, our natural colored ewe, gave birth last night to a 12 pound ram, Rhett, and a 10 pound ewe, Scarlett. They are both doing well and I am thrilled to have them!

New lamb!!

This morning I went out to find a nice little surprise: Abby had given birth to a 10 lb ram lamb last night. He is black with a white spotted face and adorable! Tucker will hopefully be a nice junior ram lamb at the show in the summer.

March 6

Waiting somewhat patiently for the remainder of the lambs to be born. Hoping some will be born tomorrow seeing as the temp. is supposed to be around 50 degrees. Starting to get excited now for them!

Waiting for lambs...

More lambs should be coming any day now from the last three of our ewes. These are all cross breeds, 1 black 2 white. Hopefully nothing goes wrong and all three have black lambs!! Getting excited for them to come, now that I've had the lambs I was most excited about (my Oxfords).

                             February 12:

First lambs of the season, Nola and Curby were born. These are my twin Oxfords from my Oxford ewe Glinda. Curby was the first born at 14 pounds and Nola followed not much longer after that at 12 pounds. They are very healthy lambs and my pride and joy! I'm looking forward to show season this year where I plan to show them both. More pictures to come soon!
